Absentee ballot deadline approaches

HOULTON, Maine — Voters in Houlton who do not wish to stand in long lines Nov. 8 to cast their ballot for president and other political offices have until 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 to submit an absentee ballot.

Houlton Town Clerk Cathy O’Leary said Thursday that absentee ballots were now available at the town office for individuals who wish to cast their vote early. Ballots may be picked up in person by the voter or their immediate family member or can be mailed to a person’s home.

The Houlton Town Office is open Mondays through Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., or call 532-7111

The polls will be open on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Gentle Memorial Building, 128 Main St., from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents can continue to register to vote at the Town Office and at the polls on the day of the election, but must bring identification and proof of residency.
