Katie Levesque knocked in five goals and assisted on two others for the Panthers, while Jadeyn Giberson added three goals and an assist and Kayla Martin had a goal plus an assist.
For Katahdin, Erin Robinson had two goals and Bailey Moody Kay added one goal on a penalty kick.
Natalie Rickards saved 10 of 22 shots for the Cougars (7-6-3), while Caitlyn Harris had 10 saves on 13 shots for CAHS (11-4)
“It was a tough game,” Katahdin coach Shaun McAvoy said. “It was disappointing for our girls to lose, knowing that we did not play up to our ability.”
The coach said this season was a year of transition as the players adjusted to a new coach, with a different coaching style.
“I expected a lot and I got it,” he said. “They are a coachable group of girls. We lose five seniors who are athletic with big hearts. It will be a big loss. We have some hard working underclassmen, with some big shoes to fill.”
The coach added Rickards, a junior, did a great job stepping in to the goalie position after Haley Landry suffered a knee injury. Sophomore Lindsay Drew was another bright spot with her “natural talent” as the
