The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met at 6:00 pm on November 7th for their monthly meeting. We recited our opening prayers, followed by refreshments. There were 11 members and moderator, Father Dave, present.

President Sue Hardy conducted the business meeting. Vice President Jane Stile read the minutes from the October meeting. Treasurer, Mary Grant gave the treasurer’s report. Corresponding Secretary, Alta Reardon read the monthly correspondence.

A new committee was established to update our bylaws. We are in need of a new secretary, due to the resignation of Charlene Tabb. Janet Barker gave a report of the rummage sale. It was a great success and she thanked everyone who helped in any way.

Council will be selling ticket on a lighted decorated wreath that contains 50 one dollar bills. Members will be selling on Nov. 20 and Nov. 27 before mass and at the Craft Fair on December 3rd, at which time the winning ticket will be drawn.

Prayer requests were received and we recited three Hail Mary’s. November birthdays and anniversaries were recognized. Ethel Mersereau won the door prize.

Our next meeting will be on Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. It will be our annual Christmas party which will consist of a pot luck supper and Yankee Swap. All Catholic ladies are invited.
