First and foremost we would like to thank everyone who came to our grand opening. It was a wonderful day shared with wonderful people. The community support and generosity has left us speechless.
We are very proud of our new facility and even more proud that it is paid for in full. It has been a long journey with many challenges but the end result is absolutely amazing. The interior is bright and cheery, there is plenty of sunlight and fresh air. The focal point of the building is the wall displaying the portraits of the beloved 16.
They are the reason the new building exists and we hold them near and dear to our hearts. There are still a few finishing touches to put on the place but for the most part it is complete. The security system has been activated, the insurance policy has been updated for coverage and we are good to go we are just waiting on a certificate of occupancy.
We have approximately 30 cats to pull back from foster care. We will not be moving any animals in until after the first of the year. Every cat in foster care has to make a trip to the vet for a wellness exam before it can be released into the cat rooms. This will take time and money.
We have one last surprise for everyone. We will be opening our Ark Angels Chapel on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a blessing of the animals and the chapel at 10 a.m.. There will also be a bake sale at the new building. We would love for everyone to come out and see the chapel and also if you missed the grand opening here is another chance to see our new home.
A shed was donated by a very generous couple with huge hearts when it comes to the animals , who wish to remain anonymous. Ark volunteers were able to move the shed up to the sanctuary and there the work began. A group of hard-working individuals took the shed to the next level. They put a new roof on it and sided the outside and built a little porch. They installed a new door and window. Inside the ceiling was raised, the walls were insulated and sheetrocked. A new floor is waiting to be installed. The Chapel is very near completion and we would love for you to come and see it on the Dec. 17.
Also, don’t forget to join us for annual Miracle on Mechanic Street Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be pictures with Santa, a bake sale and we will be selling trees and wreaths. There will be a giving tree for donations of food and supplies.
Thank you for your continued support and as always thank you for reading our column.
