HOULTON, Maine — Carol Howe was recently honored by the Houlton Star Bright Children’s Theater. Howe has served as the organization’s historian for the past 13 years.

She has consistently collected newspaper articles, programs and other memorabilia significant to the group, organizing it in a scrapbook for later reference. Howe became interested in the local children’s theater group in the late 60s when her eldest daughter Rosemary Elliott and her children became involved in the productions.

At that time, the theater group was sponsored by Ricker College and local children took on age appropriate roles. Since the closing of the college, local residents have carried on the tradition. Another daughter, Barbara Hogan, has also been a director of the group in past years. Howe currently has great grandchildren participating in performances.

In appreciation of her longtime interest and support Howe received a Willow tree angel from the group.
