Katahdin Valley Health Center bought property at 7 Florence Avenue in June and, on Friday, Dec. 2, tore down a two story structure on it that once served as a boarding home before it fell into disrepair.
The property sold for $15,000, according to Town Assessor Lauren Asselin. It was assessed at $40,300.
Asselin said Dec. 5 that KVHC also purchased the property at 5 Florence Avenue, which is the lot adjacent to the health center building, on Oct. 31. It was assessed at $49,500. The town has not yet received any paperwork on the sale of that property, however, so she could not say what the purchase price was.
Construction also was taking place at the KVHC building last week. Claudette Humphrey, chief executive officer at KVHC, said Dec. 5 that she had no comment on the sale of the properties or the future plans for the land.
