Local students earn top grades

Two local students recently achieved high grades for their work this fall.

Connor Grant of Houlton, a Falcon Scholar at Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, Va., has earned a spot on the president’s list for the first quarter of the 2016-17 school year. Only students with a GPA of 4.0 or higher are named to the list.

He is the son of Fred and Renee Grant of Houlton, ME.

Founded in 1892, the academy is a college-preparatory boarding school for students in grades 6-12.

Marissa Drake, also of Houlton, was named to Biola University’s dean’s list for academic excellence for the fall semester.

Drake was one of 1,575 students who were named to the dean’s list for earning a grade point average of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credit units and whose cumulative grade point average is at least a 3.2.

“Inclusion on the Biola Dean’s List is an indication that this student is performing exceptionally well in a rigorous academic program,” said Patricia Pike, Vice Provost for undergraduate education. “Our Dean’s List students are bright, motivated, engaged, competent, and personable. They are already demonstrating the characteristics of success that results from applied intelligence and that will support future endeavors in society, community, career, and family life.”
