HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton-Hodgdon-Southern Aroostook-Katahdin Black Hawks hockey team skated past Presque Isle, 7-2, Dec. 13 at the Millar Civic Center.

The Black Hawks (2-0) started with a flurry in the first period as AJ Henderson found the back of the net 1:35 minutes into the game. That lead proved short lived, however, as Presque Isle scored two unanswered goals for the 2-1 lead.

The Black Hawks were not to be deterred as Nick Delucca scored from a rebound shot from Brandon Dunn with a little over a minute left in the first period. The Black Hawks regained the lead as Henderson scored off an assist from Garrett Perkins for a 3-2 lead.

In the second period, the scoring cooled off for both teams, but the Black Hawks did manage to squeeze one past Wildcat goalie Andre Daigle as Perkins scored off an assist from Henderson to give the squad a 4-2 lead.

In the third period, the Black Hawks padded their lead with three goals. Tempers flared as both sides drew penalties. Early in the period Drew Marino, defenseman, took it end to end for an unassisted goal.

Josh Malone scored with less than 5 minutes left in the game assisted by Marino and finally Jamie Palmer scored his first ever Black Hawk goal as a senior with 3:45 left on an assist by Henderson.

Ian Neureuther was in net for the Black Hawks and saved 10 of 12 shots. The Hawks had 34 shots on net, with Daigle stopping 27.
