AUGUSTA – The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Maine recently honored a number of state legislators for their support of AGC issues during the 123rd Maine Legislature. Rep. Patricia Sutherland was recognized for her achievements at the AGC Aroostook meeting on Oct. 15 at Slopes in Presque Isle.
AGC President Loren Clarke, of Bangor, thanked Sutherland for her “leadership on a number of crucial economic issues that had a direct effect on the competitiveness of our state.”
“The votes you cast helped to make possible substantial improvements in our state’s roads and bridges,” said Clarke, adding that, “your actions also helped to create and maintain thousands of jobs in the construction industry.”
Over the past month, AGC Maine has honored the legislators in a series of dinner programs in Orono, South Portland and Presque Isle. John O’Dea, executive director of AGC Maine, said the three events were an important part of AGC’s continuing efforts to recognize the important role played by legislators in improving Maine’s infrastructure and creating jobs.
State Rep. Jeremy Fischer ,of Presque Isle, was recognized at an earlier dinner in South Portland.
Chartered in 1951, the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Maine is the state’s largest construction industry trade association. The Association maintains an office in Augusta and has 275 members statewide.
