PRESQUE ISLE – City Council will be without one of its most vocal members in the weeks ahead due to a health issue.
All councilors were present for the Nov. 17 Council session, with the exception of Ron McPherson. McPherson, who’s been dealing with a heart issue for some time now, was scheduled to have surgery this week to address the problem. “Ron is in Portland and will be having open-heart surgery on Wednesday,” Council Chairman Walt Elish told those present at the Nov. 17 session.
Elish couldn’t say exactly how long McPherson would be out but expected it would be some time before the councilor was able to assume his seat at regular meetings.
“He’ll be out a while,” said Elish.
No additional information on McPherson’s condition was available at presstime.
City Council is scheduled to meet again on Monday, Dec. 1, with discussion continuing on the city’s 2009 budget.
The session will begin at 6 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend and is encouraged to participate.
