Trailmaster Richard Lagasse will work on the signage for the club trails and is asking for help to sign the Bouchard/Gurrette Trail and the Limestone Connector Trail. Lagasse hopes to have the Caribou ATV Club trails open by May 31.
Lagasse has been informed by the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department that the area of Salar Storage North and the area behind Save-A-Lot and the Department of Health and Human Services are closed to ATV access. Operators are asked to please respect these landowners’ rights.
The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department is working on ATV access re-route to Bennett Drive businesses at this time. The Airport Trail will be signed as residential ATV access at North Main Street by the weather station.
Lagasse stated that he has been advised by Real Deschaine, northern district representative of ATV.Maine, that ”only designated ATV trails on Irving Woodlands LLC , will be open for ATV riders if they belong to a member club of ATV Maine, that has purchased the ATV Maine general liability insurance policy. Any ATV rider who does not have the ATV Maine sticker on their machine will be considered trespassing on Irving lands. This Irving land-use policy does not directly impact Caribou ATV Club trails at this time, however, the club is a member of ATV Maine and will be purchasing the insurance policy.
The club trailmaster also reported that the construction of the Caribou Stream Wharf Bridge began  recently at the Caribou  Parks and Recreation Department storage building. He said that one of the sections of the bridge is about 85 percent complete and encourages anyone who can help finish the project to contact him at 227-3918. Lagasse would also like to have help working on the Lagasse Connector Trail. He noted that a lot of ground work needs to be completed in order to have the trail open for the 2008 ATV season.
