Sleepers 5, Savings Bank of Maine 4
Riley McDuffie caught a key fly ball for the third out of the second inning in a game played over two days ending with the Sleepers’ win on June 16. Connor Thibeault also helped on the defensive side throwing out a runner for Sara Huston to get the tag at third base. Michael Hunter doubled, and got the first run of the game. Breen Blackstone snuck around the diamond for six stolen bases, and scored three runs. Huston and Brendan Cyr had an RBI each. Brayden Burby, Nick Matlock and Caleb Ouellette combined pitching for 14 strikeouts for Savings Bank.
Maine Bag 8, Savings Bank of Maine 5
Savings Bank had a late-game rally, scoring five runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined, but couldn’t take the lead from Maine Bag on Saturday. Cody Herbert picked up the pitching win striking out 10 batters. Justin Akerson hit a home run and tripled for Maine Bag. Michael Selander and Kris Michaud doubled.
Jacob Burby tripled, and Matlock doubled for Savings Bank.
Knights of Columbus 9, Woodland Eagles 8
Knights of Columbus entered the bottom of the sixth down by one in Friday’s Little League game, but the game was far from over. Jillian Flynn was hit by a pitch, and teammate Jesse Page joined her on the diamond after a bunt single. The pair advanced on a wild pitch before Devin Martin hit an RBI double for the win.
Tyler Charette hit three singles, David Kennedy doubled and singled and Taylor Thibodeau singled for KC.
Eagle Matt Milliard hit a home run and went three-for-three to lead Woodland.
Shop n’ Save 13, Woodland Tigers 1
Shop n’ Save scored every inning for their 13-1 win over the Tigers last Thursday. Michael Marquis started the offense with a double, and Kameron Manter brought two runners home with a single.
The Tigers answered in the bottom of the inning when Zach Connelly doubled and scored on a single by Dylan Conroy. Shop n’ Save defense never allowed a runner beyond first base after the first inning.
Marquis doubled, Adam Collins doubled and tripled, Manter doubled and Jared Keaton hit a home run and doubled for the winners. Collins struck out 11 batters on the mound.
Maine Bag 8, S.W. Collins 3
Maine Bag broke S.W. Collins’ undefeated season last Thursday with four runs in the first inning toward the victory. Herbert hit a home run, and Selander doubled twice in the win. Josh Fortin and Michaud both singled.
Rebecca McDougal blasted a home run in the sixth inning for S.W. Collins, while Matt Curry doubled and singled. Nate Wyman hit a single.
North Stars 13, Police 3
Jordyn Doucette pitched a complete game, striking out 12 Police batters for the North Stars’ victory.
Shane Landeen blasted his first CLL home run over the fence, and Doucette had three hits to lead offense. Jacob Bither notched three hits, and Kelsie Espling had two hits.
Austin Griffeth hit a homer and singled to lead the Police.
North Stars 7, Shop n’ Save 5
The North Stars put in a five-run sixth inning to regain the lead and take the win over Shop n’ Save. Landeen picked up the pitching win while Garrick Alley took the save. The pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts. Doucette hit two doubles and two singles, and Bither tripled and singled twice.
Alex Losienieski and Jared Keaton had two hits apiece for Shop n’ Save.
Sleepers 7, VFW 6
It was a tight pinch in Caribou Little League action last Thursday, but Sleepers’ pitchers Hunter, Thibeault and Huston combined for 11 strike outs for the shutdown and one-point win.
Cyr knocked two RBIs, and made the winning run. Justin Ouellette tallied two hits and one RBI. Hunter singled, doubled and hit three RBIs. Thibeault also had an RBI while first-year-player Mason Huck singled.
VFW’s Sean Sadler slammed his first homer of the season and singled during the game. Dylan Berkoski singled and tripled. Berkowski and Jake Perreault combined for 10 strikeouts for VFW pitching.
S.W. Collins 8, Knights of Columbus 0
S.W. Collins picked up another win over K of C in a rain-shortened competition on June 10. Dayne Savage posted three hits, and Curry doubled. Donovan Savage, McDougal and Wyman all added a hit. Dayne and Donovan Savage combined for nine strike outs over four innings.
Thibodeau led K of C on the mound striking out nine batters. Charette and David Kennedy both posted hits.
Shop n’ Save 6, Key Bank 2
Shop n’ Save pitcher Keaton struck out six of the first seven batters he faced toward 11 total strikeouts for the pitching win on June 7. Marquis, Manter and Keaton all tripled.
Nolan McDuffie struck out 11 batters for the Key Bank defense and had only three walks. Kaleb Corriveau caught a line drive at shortsop for the second out of the second inning to help keep SNS scoreless in the inning.
VFW 21, Knights of Columbus 2
Berkoski struck out 13 batters over five inning to lead his team to victory on June 7.
Berkoski also hit two doubles and tripled, and Sadler doubled and tripled. Perreault had one double and two singles, and Daniel Powers singled making his first hit of the season.
K of C athlete Kennedy hit a home run, and Charette singled for their team.
Shop n’ Save 7, Police 1
Collins struck out 13 and allowed only two walks to help his team to victory on June 6. SNS had a two point lead after the first inning, but it was still anyone’s game as both teams were kept scoreless through the second and third innings. However, SNS erupted for five runs in the fourth toward the win. Axios Gerakaris pumped up the offense with a double, and Collins later doubled for two runs.
Manter drove in two more with a home run. Marquis also tripled for SNS.
Michael Boone scored the sole Police run in the sixth inning by drawing a walk and scoring on a post ball.
VFW 5, Savings Bank of Maine 4
It was equally matched Little League game between VFW and Savings Bank on June 6. However, Sadler struck out 14 Savings Bank batters to help his team to victory. Sadler also doubled and tripled for VFW while teammate Berkoski doubled and hit two singles.
Savings Bank kept the game close when Tyler Raymond made a running catch at centerfield and Caleb Willett caught a line drive. Matlock singled for Savings Bank.
Shop n’ Save 9, Savings Bank of Maine 5
Marquis slammed a home run to lead SNS in their victory over Savings Bank on May 31. Losieniecki, Collins and Manter all tripled. Losieniecki and Manter struck out 11 batters combined for SNS defense.
Matlock tripled for Savings Bank, and struck out nine batters.
Kaitlyn Nadeau got on base for the first time in her early Little League career, reaching first base on a walk.
