Players of the week
    All the members of the Caribou boys’ tennis team were named players of the week in the Thursday, June 19 edition of the Bangor Daily News for their undefeated, 80-0, season. TAMC Golf Classic
    Team registrations are still being accepted for the 12th annual TAMC Golf Classic to be held on Saturday, June 28 at the Presque Isle Country Club. The TAMC Golf Classic supports Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that children have access to specialized care and equipment. As a CMN hospital, the Aroostook Medical Center receives money from CMN to purchase needed pediatric medical equipment and services.

Baseball All-Stars
    Caribou varsity baseball player Jarryd Rossignol was named to the utilities roster of the Maine Senior East All-Star team. The East versus West game will take place on Friday at Husson College at 6 p.m.
    Viking pitcher Philip St. Peter and outfielder Pat Thibodeau were named to the Maine Underclassmen East All-Star team. The East versus West game took place on Monday.
OAPI event
    On the weekend of June 28-29, the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Outdoor Adventure Program International will host an outdoor rock climbing trip  to Acadia National Park. No experience is required.
    A $30 non-refundable deposit is due today, with the remaining balance due June 28. The total cost is $75 per person and includes a camping fee, Park entrance fee, lunch on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday, snacks, gas and a quality guide.
    The van departs Gentile Hall at 6:30 a.m. and will return by 10 p.m. on Sunday. No experience is required.

Men’s Softball League tournament
    The Men’s Softball League district D tournament will be held this weekend at the Pine Street and Pool fields in Presque Isle. The Friday night games begin at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday games begin at 8 a.m. The top four teams from the tournament will compete in the state competition later this summer.

    As part of Caribou’s sesquicentennial celebrations in 2009, The Aroostook Republican will run photographs and stories about the history of the city. Biking events
    A Presque Isle time trial (Maine TT #8) will take place on Saturday, July 19 beginning at 1 p.m. on the Parsons Road. The 14-mile road race/ride is part of the Maine Time Trial series. The registration fee is $20 or $15 is preregistered by emailing info@melsmojo.com or calling Melanie at 760-9500.
    The Spudcycle Classic will take place on Sunday, July 20 as part of the Potato Blossom Festival events. Registration opens at the Fort Fairfield Recreation Department at 8:30 a.m. with the kids’ event at 9 a.m. and the adult ride at 10 a.m. The route is 26-miles. For more information call 760-9500.
MWSC announcements
    Top O’Maine Mountain Bike Race. The race will take place in Madawaska on Saturday, June 28 beginning at 9 a.m. There is a 7-km and 28-km competition. Register at the FSTA Lodge on Spring Street. For more information, contact the Madawaska Recreation Department at 728-3604.
