Caribou Superintendent of Schools  Frank McElwain was recently informed that he was one of two Maine MSSA members selected to receive the 2008 Outstanding Leadership Award, awarded on behalf of the Maine School Superintendents Association. The award will be presented at the MSSA Recognition Banquet, June 30, at the Commissioner’s Conference.      The MSSA established this annual award in 1984 to recognize superintendents and assistant superintendents for their “outstanding educational leadership.”
The criteria for this award include leadership; professional service; exemplary educational programs with which they have been in a leadership capacity; and service to the profession of education.
This honor was announced to McElwain during a recent school board committee meeting, by Scott Willey, chair of the Caribou School Board Committee.
