After six years of production, Aroostook County native, John W. Bosley, has announced that he has finished his first feature-length film.  Bosley, who spent most of his childhood in northern Maine, is now returning to tour the entire state with the film, “amnesia”.  The world premiere will be next week at the Caribou Theaters.

“amnesia” a feature-length film by director John W. Bosley, formerly of Presque Isle, will kick off a statewide tour in Caribou and Houlton this month.

“amnesia” is the story of a man, Allan Carter, who wakes up with amnesia.  He doesn’t know what world he has woken up to, but does know that he is looking for his wife and son.  Allan finds himself being shot at, hiding in caves and secret tunnels, and being chased through the forest while constantly searching for the truth.  Eighty percent of the film was shot within Maine, while the remaining percent was shot in Michigan and Colorado.
The film company that Bosley founded, J.B. Movies and Visual Arts, decided to take a different approach to marketing and distributing its film.  “amnesia” will be going on tour throughout the state of Maine in July 2008 in an effort to create awareness of the film and to allow as many citizens of Bosley’s home state to see it.  Bosley wanted “The County” to be the first area to view the film.
Bosley, who left the area in search of work after graduating from Presque Isle High School, credits a former teacher for influencing his eventual career path. “I had the benefit, in my senior year of high school, to take a video productions class in Caribou. Presque Isle and Caribou would transfer students back and forth for different technology classes. And, that is where I met Brenda Jepson,” Bosley explained.
Jepson, the teacher for Caribou’s video productions class, helped to encourage Bosley’s talents and interest in filmmaking.  Jepson took her entire class, including Bosley, to the set of a Stephen King movie, “Storm of the Century” in 1998.
Bosley was inspired by being on a real film production set and then knew that one day he would produce his own.  Years later, the young director contacted Jepson to have her personally view his film before it went on tour.
“‘amnesia’ is gripping from the first moment to the last…,”  Jepson said.  “I would encourage anyone to watch this film with its fast pacing, spellbinding scenes and compelling story.”
“We are asking people to ‘Join The Revolution,’”  Jamie Anderson, a publicist for J.B. Movies, stated. “What we mean by that is simple: go to the website, see the previews, come to the premiere, and invite others.  This is a chance for ‘The County’ to see a project that took a former local more than half a decade to complete.”
“It is our desire that the story of the making of this film will inspire people in Aroostook County with some hope.  John’s struggle to produce this project was an uphill battle, but the impossible was achieved,” Nina Hegyi, another publicist explained.
Several State Representatives and Senators from Maine plan to attend various screenings of the film while it is on tour.  Rep. Peter Edgecomb (R-Caribou) plans to attend The World Premiere of “amnesia” at the Caribou Theatres on July 9th, Bosley said.
Ticket costs for “amnesia” is based upon local theater pricing. However, there is a $1 printable coupon available on the J.B. Movies and Visual Arts Web site at www.jbmovies.com.
Film showings, followed by panel discussions with director Bosley are scheduled at the Caribou Theaters at 7 and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 10.
Copies of “amnesia” will be available for purchase after each showing. For more information about the film visit www.jbmovies.com.
