Procurement Business Counselor to serve Aroostook

    CARIBOU — Northern Maine Development Commission (NMDC) is pleased to announce that David W. Spooner has been promoted to a newly created position as a Procurement Business Counselor with the Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC).     Headquartered at Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC) in Bangor, Maine PTAC has contracted with NMDC to provide technical assistance to businesses in northern Maine that want to access governmental contracting opportunities.
    “The partnership between NMDC and EMDC will provide businesses in northern Maine with direct access to these government procurement services and will generate significant economic benefit and opportunity for them to grow their business,” said Robert P. Clark, NMDC Executive Director.
    EMDC President Michael W. Aube added, “In these challenging times, it is critical that all of us work together to advance economic opportunity. We are so pleased to have NMDC partner with us to insure wider access for Maine’s small businesses to sell services and products to the federal government.”
    As the Procurement Business Counselor for northern Maine, Spooner will work closely with businesses to identify contracting opportunities and assist with bid document preparation, contracting requirements, and post contract award requirements. Previously a Small Business Development Center Counselor and Tourism Development Specialist for NMDC, Spooner has more than 12  years experience assisting, counseling and marketing Aroostook County businesses.
    “David’s knowledge and training in business Best Practices and accounting will be an asset as he guides area companies in getting ready to sell to government markets,” said Alain M. Ouellette, NMDC’s Planning and Development Division Director.
