Called by Stephen King, “Maine’s Humorist Laureate”, Tim Sample has sold well over one million books, albums and videos. He has also appeared on such programs as Good Morning America and the Today Show. Sample has performed thousands of shows in venues as diverse as the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Mall of America, the New York City Yacht Club and the Caribou Performing Arts Center. Bill Flagg, director of community relations and development at Cary Medical Center said that Sample provides a unique brand of family entertainment.
“Tim really has a very special talent,” said Flagg who is coordinating the Feb.13 event. “People of all ages enjoy his Downeast humor and traditional Maine stories. He truly is a Maine icon and we hope to turn out a very good audience for this great show.”
The Shaw Brothers have appeared recently at Harrods in London, and have had concert tours of Japan and the Far East. They have truly earned their informal designation as “musical ambassadors to the world” from their native New England. Most recognized for their original Coke jingle “We’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony,” the Shaw Brothers have numerous top selling albums and have sold out shows throughout the country. Together Tim Sample and the Shaw Brothers have put together a traveling road show called a ‘New England Sampler’.
Proceeds from the event will benefit ‘Camp Adventure’ children’s diabetes camp. Bill Flagg said that the camp has become a great opportunity for children who struggle with this chronic disease.
“Over the past decade this camp has offered a wonderful experience for children with diabetes. The kids experience hiking, canoeing, biking, kayaking, rock climbing and they learn that they can control their diabetes and not let their diabetes control them. This camp has benefited from the support of multiple organizations including Cary Medical Center and the volunteer time of a number of health professionals, registered guides and others. We have tried to keep costs for children to attend the camp as low as possible. Thanks to these generous sponsors and volunteers the camp has reached out to children from throughout our state.”
Tickets to the Feb.13 performance will go on sale Monday, Jan. 26, at the following locations: Caribou One Stop, Food Trend in Caribou and Presque Isle, Ezzy’s Music Shop in Van Buren, Irving Mainway in Fort Fairfield and at Cary Medical Center.
Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 the day of the show. Children 5 and under are free.
