NEW SWEDEN – Edgar W. Doak, 94, died August 10, 2009, at Caribou, following a brief illness. He was born at Caribou, January 5, 1915, the son of Henry and Estella (Holmes) Doak. Edgar was employed with the B&A Railroad and was also a self-employed farmer for many years. He was also employed at Potato Service as a Security Guard. He was a member of the Christian Life Assembly in Crouseville. Edgar was also a volunteer at Cary Medical Center for many years.
Edgar is survived by three sons, Bernard “Bunny” Doak and his wife Betty of Deland, Fla., Phil Doak and his wife Jackie of Woodland and Russell Doak and his wife Charlotte of Caribou; a daughter Helen Ouellette and her husband Wayne of Griswold, Conn.; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Edgar was predeceased by a son Robert Doak and by his brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, Saturday, August 15, 2009, from 2 p.m. until time of funeral services, which will be held 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Pastor David MacIntyre, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Edgar may do so to the Christian Life Assembly Memorial Fund.
