PRESQUE ISLE – Maine Community Action Association (MCAA) is administering a statewide program that provides funding and reimbursement for anyone living in Maine who suffered a loss from the severe storms and flooding that occurred from April 28-May 14, 2008. Although Aroostook and Penobscot counties were hardest hit by the storm, funding is available to persons and non-profits in any county in Maine impacted by the event.
Services in Aroostook County will be coordinated by Aroostook County Action Program Community Services Department. Individuals, families and not-for-profit entities that had losses or were directly impacted in some manner that has not been reimbursed may qualify for assistance.
These funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority being given to applicants with low incomes and those who have yet to receive any compensation for their losses. Funds are intended to address home repair, reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket expenses, health services (including mental health services), as well as repair, renovation, and/or construction of health care and mental health facilities, child care centers and other social service facilities affected by this natural disaster.
If you had losses as a result of this weather event that have not been reimbursed or if you have questions about this resource, contact Roy Michaud, ACAP Community Services, Fort Kent at (207) 834-5135 or Michelle Cyr at (207) 325-2268. Be prepared to leave your name and a phone number where you can be reached during the day.
