BUCKSPORT – Anita L. Malenfant, 69, died March 18, 2010, at a Bangor hospital after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. She left this world on the wings of an eagle, with her loving and devoted family by her side. Born Nov. 17, 1940, in Caribou, she was the daughter of Emile and Albertine M. (Rossignol) Ouellette. She was employed at Superior Electric, Bristol, Conn., during the early 1980s and seasonally at Busters Drive-In. In her youth, she worked at J.J. Newberry, Caribou. She returned to Maine from Connecticut in 1986, residing in Bucksport until her passing. Anita lived for her children and grandchildren. She absolutely loved to be around her family in Caribou, Bristol, Conn., and Bucksport. She enjoyed going to every single ball game, dance recital and wrestling match. She always adored going on vacations with her family in Old Orchard Beach and camp in Lincoln. She also enjoyed taking trips to Bar Harbor, Virginia Beach, Va., Canada, California and Strawberry Park Campground, Preston, Conn. She took pride in her crafts, creating beautiful quilted albums, many of which her family cherishes with their own photos. She made individual pillows for her children and grandchildren, along with donating many to Orland Consolidated School, where she volunteered as often as she was able. She loved to baby sit and watched many, if not most of the younger family members. She will be deeply missed each and every day. Her intense devotion of family and love carries on in her children and grandchildren, and will help guide their journeys in life, continuing on through generations. As we say goodbye with another trip around Sherwood Forest Park, we will always see you waving as we part.
She was predeceased by her parents. Anita is survived by her son, Jeffrey Malenfant and his wife, Cathy, of Bristol, Conn.; a daughter, Valerie Steinis of Thomaston, Conn.; a son, Kendall Malenfant and his wife, Terri, of Bristol, Conn.; a son, Michael Malenfant and his wife, Corinne, of Orland; a son, Troy Malenfant and his wife, Rhonda, of Wolcott, Conn.; her grandchildren, Erik and Ashley, Sean and Christopher, Krista and Kendall, Drew and Jordan, and Avery; her sister, Betty Dunn of Presque Isle; brothers, Jim, Philip and Kendall Ouellette; a sister, Claudine Cyr, all of Caribou; a sister, Peggy Brown and her husband, David, of Bangor; along with many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family thanks Eastern Maine Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit for their compassion, support and guidance during this most difficult time. They would also like to thank her nephew, John Paul Cyr for the spiritual support he provided to her and her family. She felt comfort in his words.
