Loring riders feel a need for speed

LIMESTONE — Speed fans should not only start their engins, they’re going to want to check their fluids and wear a helmet as the Loring Timing Association prepares to host the second Land Speed Racing event on Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1.

The word spread rampantly through the racing community after last year’s successful event and from far and wide, registrations have been pouring in from drivers and riders eager to get clocked at high speeds down the 2.5 mile runway.

For racers and spectators alike there will be an array of vendors selling food, beverages and souvenirs and to make this year’s event even better than the previous one, the LTA will be providing a sound system so that spectators can be informed as to exactly who and what that blur racing down the runway at speeds over 200 miles per hour is.

There is a spectator fee of $10 for both days; weather and conditions pending, racing is estimated to begin at roughly 9 a.m. and conclude around 4 p.m. Additional information can be obtained by visiting http://www.lta-lsr.com.
