Caribou area residents are reminded that their opportunity to rent a Nordic ski package for the season will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center.
This year the Northern Skiers Club and the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department are pleased to announce that they have partnered with private philanthropists in the community to offer a Nordic Ski rental program in Caribou. This year, students in grades 1-8 will be able to take advantage of the program and rent a set of Nordic skis, boots and poles for the winter for a fee of $80 with a portion of the fee refundable once the equipment is returned in the spring.
Notices with information regarding the rental equipment have been distributed through the Caribou schools. There will be 80 ski sets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Persons interested in renting are required to attend the meeting on Thursday, Nov. 4, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. The meeting is designed to provide potential renters with information about the program, collect rental fees and to size renters for equipment. There will also be a variety of displays for attendees to visit that will provide information about enjoying the winter experience in Aroostook. Information on adult ski and snowshoe rentals will also be available.
Additional information can be obtained by calling the recreation office at 493-4224 or by contacting any member of the Northern Skiers Club.
