CARIBOU, Maine — Susan White, principal at the Caribou Middle School, and staff members recently announced their selections for Students of the Month for January.
Casey Dobson, a grade-six student, was named Student of the Month for January by her teachers Ms. Sarah LaJoie and Mrs. Cathy Bouchard.
The CMS teachers stated, “Casey is a friendly and caring student, always putting others ahead of herself. She is a great leader in the class, an extremely hard worker and is constantly striving to do her best. Casey is always willing to help both students and teachers whenever she is needed.
Kirsten Haney, was selected as Student of the Month for January by her grade-six teachers Mrs. Ruth Dionne and Mr. John Pelletier.
The team teachers said, “Kirsten is a member of the recreation cheerleading squad, the soccer team, CMS band/chorus and was recently selected to participate in All-Aroostook Chorus. In addition to these activities, Kirsten is an honor roll student, a dependable young lady who is a friend to all of her peers. She is kind and thoughtful to her classmates and is always eager to help anyone in need,” her teachers said.
Hailey Caron is a member of the CMS seventh grade was chosen as Student of the Month for January by her teachers Mrs. Kim Barnes, Mrs. Mary Curtis, Mrs. Holly Rhinebolt, Mr. Steve Perreault and Mr. Arik Jepson.
Her instructors said, “Hailey is a pleasure to have in our school. She is friendly and kind to all she meets. Her outstanding effort in the classroom is reflected in her excellent grades. Hailey also contributes to her school by playing on the soccer team. In class and on the playing field, she is a wonderful young lady who makes Caribou Middle School a better place,” they added.
Ethan Plourde, a seventh-grade student, was named Student of the Month for January by his teachers Mrs. Kim Barnes, Mrs. Mary Curtis, Mrs. Holly Rhinebolt, Mr. Steve Perreault and Mr. Arik Jepson.
The Caribou Middle School teachers stated, “Ethan is first and foremost an honorable and respected student and classmate at CMS. He is a leader by his actions because he never engages in negative behavior or peer pressure, respecting all the students at CMS by treating them with respect at all times. Ethan, an excellent athlete, is involved in the CMS soccer, basketball and skiing teams. A highly motivated student, he is also in the Gifted and Talented Program and is a highly advanced and accomplished math student.
Michael Marquis, a member of the eighth grade at CMS was named Student of the Month for January by his teachers Mrs. Jessica Dow, Mrs. Shannon Sleeper, Mr. Troy Barnes, Mr. Ralph Fantasia and Mr. Travis Barnes.
The five CMS team teachers said, “Michael has been a consistent honor roll student during his time here at CMS. He has also been involved in athletics, participating on the tennis, soccer, basketball and ski teams, as well as a member of the school band for the past four years. Michael is also a homeroom representative to the CMS Student Organization.” “We believe that Michael is an excellent student who always tries to put forth his best effort,” they said.
Laura Forsberg, a grade eight student was chosen Student of the Month for January by her teachers Mrs. Jessica Dow, Mrs. Shannon Sleeper, Mr. Troy Barnes, Mr. Ralph Fantasia and Mr. Travis Barnes.
Her teachers stated, “Laura’s grades have steadily improved and she is very helpful in the classroom. She enjoys writing poetry, reading fantasy fiction novels. And is motivated to learn and to improve her participation at school. Laura is a conscientious student and is eager to make a difference in classroom discussion. She is a pleasure to have in class and positively contributes to the classroom environment.
