The Caribou Middle School seventh-grade boys basketball team began the season on a nine-game winning streak with a combination of wins against Limestone, Fort Fairfield, Presque Isle, Madawaska, Houlton and Wisdom.

The Vikings suffered a road loss at Houlton before beating Presque Isle and Wisdom to set up the third meeting of the season against the Shires with the Aroostook League’s central division title on the line.
Caribou fell behind early, 12-3, but a halfcourt buzzer-beater by Tyler Dombroski to end the first quarter whittled the lead down to three. The Vikes again beat the buzzer to end the second quarter, with Donovan Savage hitting a long three-pointer, as Caribou took the 22-16 lead.
Caribou maintained a six-point lead after three quarters and then went 9 for 10 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to win the game, 52-36.
The team ended the season with a 12-1 overall record. Throughout the season, Caribou shot extremely well from beyond the three-point line and ended up with 52 three-point field goals on the season. Caribou outscored its opponents 582-377 on the season, which was an average of nearly 45 ppg compared to the opponents’ average of just 29 ppg.
Balanced scoring was a key throughout the season as an average of eight players reached the scoring column every game.
