Lots of people have been calling to check on Marmalade, which is why HHPR President Norma Milton made sure to provide an update. “Little Marmalade continues to thrive with his loving foster family. HHPR volunteers are now cautiously optimistic that this special little guy will make it,” she said, adding that he recently gained almost 2 ounces “and is now learning to play, as well as crawl into bed with his best friend Toby (the brain damages HHPR mascot.)” Though the community is familiar with Marmalade, Milton also wanted to introduce adoptable Roxanne— a two-year-old year old calico spayed female. Volunteers say that Roxanne gets along well with other cats after an initial “hiss and spit” contest, in which Roxanne always backs off before a fight can start. She is very clean, loving and has all medical completed for the next year. “This cat will be a wonderful pet for any family including children and/or other pets,” Milton said about the friendly feline, who has been with the shelter two months and is so anxious to have her own home. Roxanne’s adoption price for this week will be only $5 for the right family. FMI call Mary Rowe at 999-1075. HHPR kittens, from 9 week to 5 months old, are $55 and are adopted with a spay/neuter voucher for the vet to bill HHPR for the surgery. Then shelter’s new location at 489 South Main St. is open by appointment only for adoption and on every Saturday afternoon from  noon to 3 p.m.
