FRYEBURG — Brendan Wood became the second Caribou High School wrestler ever to place in the state meet four consecutive years.
The Vikes’ 132-lb. wrestler came in third place in Saturday’s Class B state meet held in Fryeburg.

Wood placed fourth as a freshman and has been third the last three years.
Carlin Dubay was a four-time state champion in the 103 class from 2005-08.
Also for Caribou, Michael Selander in 160, Trevonte Caudill in 113 and Robert Caudill in 138 all placed fifth in their respective weight classes.
Tsion McLeod, Matthew Manter and Jacob Bither all competed but did not place.
Caribou scored 23 points and placed 12th overall in the team standings.
“As for next year, we have a group of experienced wrestlers now who know what it is like to have wrestled in the state tournament,” said Caribou coach Chico Hernandez.
Selander, Wood and Aaron Simon, who missed Saturday’s meet due to mononeucleosis, are the lone seniors.
“I am very proud of this team,” Hernandez said. “We fought off lots of adversity this season with two cancellations of wrestling tournaments during the Christmas break and the recent cancellation of the Maine State Wrestling Tournament that was to be held at the Augusta Civic Center, so we had to compete at Fryeburg Academy for the second year in a row and were delayed from competition for two weeks.
“It was a very tough road trip and we did the best we could,” he added.
