In collaboration with Cary Medical Center, Friends of the Caribou Public Library hosts a program called Babies and Books, which provides the family of newborns with their baby’s first library card, handouts providing tips and suggestions for age-appropriate activities, a free board book, an invitation to join the library’s Mother Goose Time, and a certificate of completion when the child reaches one year old. A book is placed in the children’s section of the library commemorating the baby’s completion of the Babies and Books program. The library held a ceremony for graduates of the program on Feb. 16. Pictured are, from left, front row, big sister Anna Malone with graduates Simeon Malone and Maryn Michaud. Middle row, Simeon’s mother, Angel Malone, and Maryn’s grandmother, Judy St. Peter. Back row, Children’s Librarian Jean Shaw, graduate Amelia Bouchard and her mother, Cindy; father Akoni Huntley, graduate Lelah Huntley and her mother, Katie.
