CARIBOU — Three new members of Caribou royalty were crowned on March 16 as 10 Pre-Teen, Junior Miss and Miss Teen Pageant contestants vied for the 2013 titles at the Caribou Performing Arts Center.
The theme for the pageant, directed by Sherrill Campbell, was Grecian Goddess. Entertainment was provided by the exiting queens, Mariah Mink, 2012 Pre-Teen Miss Caribou, Kelsey Kiehn, 2012 Junior Miss Caribou, and Victoria Keaton, 2012 Miss Teen Caribou.
After an opening number featuring all contestants and the 2012 queens, visiting royalty from all over The County was introduced. The 2013 contestants then competed in physical fitness, talent and evening gown competitions. The talent portion of the competition featured monologues, dancing, singing and playing musical instruments.
After all three categories were completed, pageant judges Cindy Flanagan and Sarah Caron, both of Presque Isle, and Christine Fox of Fort Fairfield, chose MacKenna Libby Smith as 2013 Pre-Teen Miss Caribou, Samantha Fortin as Junior Miss Caribou, and Karina Patterson as Miss Teen Caribou. Smith is the daughter of Whitney and Katie Smith; Fortin is the daughter of Robin and Robert Fortin; and Patterson is the daughter of Kim and Steve Patterson.
Each winner will go on to represent Caribou in their age group at the Potato Blossom Festival in July.
The contestants chose sisters Peyton Grace and Taitam Mai Lindsey as Miss Congeniality for the Pre-Teen and Teen Miss categories respectively, and Olivia Picard was chosen as Miss Congeniality for the Junior Miss category.
Sandi Bouchard served as mistress of ceremonies.
