CARIBOU — It was Back to the 1980s on Sunday at the Caribou Performing Arts Center as two young ladies who weren’t even born yet during the decade of big hair and bright colors vied for the title of 2013 Miss Caribou.

The scholarship pageant, sponsored by the Caribou Lioness Club, began with the two contestants, Chelsea Bard and Hanna Hebert, performing a dance routine to Kenny Loggins’ “Footloose” with 2012 Miss Caribou Natasha Bishop.
Bard and Hebert competed in physical fitness, entertainment and evening gown segments of the pageant, having already been scored by the judges in an interview competition previous to the show.
Other reigning Caribou queens and 2013 Mr. Caribou Lucas Kinney provided entertainment between the competition portions of the program.
In the end, the three judges, Janine Stackpole of Mars Hill, Jolene Kinney and Jenny McPherson, both of Mapleton, chose Hebert as the winner. Hebert is the daughter of Gary and Jola Hebert. She performed a self-choreographed en pointe ballet as her talent.
First runner-up Bard, the daughter of Leroy and Sandra Bard, performed a vocal selection as her talent.
Both contestants paid homage to their families during an interview question asked in the evening gown portion the pageant.
Mistress of ceremonies was Caribou High School teacher Alana Margeson.
