The Caribou Little League 9-10 all-star travel team competed in the Marty Lyons Classic Invitational tournament in Bar Harbor Aug. 3-4 and finished second in the 11-team event. The squad went 4-2 in the double-elimination tourney, losing in the championship game to the Waldo County All-Stars by a score of 9-7. The underdog Caribou team made it to the finals by beating a very talented team from Beverly, Mass. by a score of 10-8 in the semifinals in what was a very exciting baseball game and one of the best games that the players, fans and coaches had ever experienced. Caribou also beat Orrington, the MDI Acadians and Presque Isle on its way to the title game.
