Spud Speedway will host monster trucks this weekend

    CARIBOU — The 2012-13 Monster Jam #1 freestyle truck in the nation will make an appearance at Spud Speedway’s “Day of Destruction” monster truck show Saturday, Aug. 31.
    Maine’s own Crushstation will be returning to the race track for the 1 p.m. show.
    There will also be bag races, chain races, tuff trucks, bomber racing and a demolition derby.

    Regular racing was held Saturday, with Glenn Rasmussen of New Denmark beating Connor Thibeau of Fort Fairfied to the finish in the outlaw sportsman points race. Jason Levesque of Caribou placed third.
    Keith Thibeau Jr. of Fort Fairfield won the fast fours competition, followed by Nate Haney of Limestone and Steve Levesque of Caribou.
    In the northern lights class, Wayne Fox of Caribou came out on top of the field, followed by Dell Brissette, also of Caribou, and Thomas Everett of Limestone.
    John Craig of Ashland took the challenger series race, with Derek Patten of Limestone in second.
    The street stock division went to JR Howlett of Presque Isle.
    Tyler Raymond of Caribou, Damian Theriault of Caribou and Gage Theriault of Limestone claimed first place in the kart competitions.
