Caribou golfers drop two, end regular season Monday

    The championship portion of the Viking golf team’s schedule begins next week.

    Caribou is 1-4 heading into its regular season finale at Fort Kent Monday, which is a make-up match from Sept. 11. Then on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the team plays a match at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln against Presque Isle, Old Town and John Bapst. Two days later, the Penobscot Valley Conference championships are scheduled, again at the Lincoln course.
    The Wildcats hosted Caribou Friday and won by 11 strokes, 180-191. PI’s Michael Boone was the medalist with a 41. Dayne Savage carded a 44 to lead the Vikings, with younger brother Donovan coming in with a 46 on the afternoon. Connor Thibeault shot a 50 and Tyler Dombroski and Justin Ouellette shot 51s.
    At home against Houlton Monday, the Vikings lost 16 strokes, 172-188. Parker Brewer of the Shires was the medalist with a 42.
    Dayne Savage had a 44 and Donovan Savage a 44 for Caribou, followed by Thibeault (47), Dombroski (51) and Ouellette (51).
