The Caribou Middle School boys’ soccer teams had a busy week with games against Houlton, Presque Isle Blue and Valley Rivers of Fort Kent.
The team lost two and played to a tie in the other match.
The Vikings tied Houlton last Wednesday, 1-1, with Noah Frost landing a penalty kick with five minutes left to salvage the tie. Nic Sleeper, Nick Allen and Spencer McDuffie were Caribou’s defensive standouts and Hayden Hunter, Benoit Levesque and Brandon Jalbert played well.
On Friday, Caribou dropped a 2-1 decision to Presque Isle Blue. The Wildcats scored a minute into the game, built a two-goal lead by intermission and held off a ferocious comeback attempt by Caribou in the second half. Frost scored the lone goal off an Alex Bouchard assist. Brandon Manter played well in goal and Camden Huck played a solid game for the Vikings.
The following morning, Valley Rivers Middle School of Fort Kent rolled to a 3-0 halftime lead en route to the 5-1 triumph. Cullin Caverhill scored for Caribou, with Bailey Griffeth providing the assist. Alex Hyde, Tiernan Barbosa, Ezra Judd, Liam McMillan and Kyle Boucher turned in fine efforts for coach Steve Perreault’s squad in the loss.
