The Caribou Middle School Lady Vikings’ soccer team wrapped up its season last week with a pair of league games against PIMS White and Houlton and participation in the Bill Weber Invitational Tournament in Houlton.
In Presque Isle Thursday, Hope Shea’s second-half goal, assisted by Sydney Thompson and JoJo Fields, evened the score at 1-1 against PIMS White.
In Caribou on Friday, Gabrielle Marquis converted two penalty kicks, the second with 1:07 remaining in the game, as Caribou bested the Shires. Fields scored the other Viking goal.
In Houlton Saturday, the Lady Vikings participated in the tourney in Houlton, with games against Ashland, Southern Aroostook, Hodgdon, Central Aroostook and host Houlton. Despite a 4-1 record in the round-robin format, the Lady Vikings narrowly missed an opportunity to play in the championship game, falling short in a tie-breaker.
Searra Herbert led the way for Caribou with three goals. Fields scored twice, Shea, Jaelynn Doody and Willow Whitten chipped in with a goal and an assist apiece, and Marquis added an assist.
The Vikings’ defense, led by Danielle Hanson, Camryn Langille, Meagan Dube, Thompson and goalkeeper Jaelynn Doody, allowed only two goals on the day, which was the lowest total of any team.
