CARIBOU – Wilfred “Wil” Levasseur, 86,  passed away  September 27, 2013, at Kindred Healthcare in Bangor. He was born in Caribou October 22, 1926, the son of the late Giggey and Eva (Bishop) Levasseur.
    Prior to retirement, he worked as a retail grocer for 33 years at Hannaford Bros. and was the store manager at Sampson’s in Caribou. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Philippines. Wilfred was an active member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW, serving as post commander and also  where he enjoyed many functions including playing pool and cooking. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Wilfred enjoyed hunting, fishing at the lakes and most of all being with his friends and family. He was a devoted husband and caretaker for many years to Leona Olmstead Levasseur who passed away in February 2003.
    He is survived by his children, Terry Charest, Vicki Choby and Scott Levasseur; sons-in-laws, Alex Choby and Dan Charest; six grandchildren, Danielle Costello, Kate and Amanda Charest, Adam and Elizabeth Choby and Benjamin Corey.
    Friends may visit with the family from 12 noon Friday October 4, 2013, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, until time of services which will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery. www.mockler funeralhome.com.
