This year marks the 87th year of continuous service of the National Honor Society, the oldest operating student organization at Caribou High School.
A delicious chicken parmesan dinner with a mix of fresh vegetables, Russet Norkotah baked accordion potatoes, Caesar salad, white dinner rolls, NHS lettuce punch and a dessert buffet of designer cupcakes preceded the induction ceremony. Miss Jessika Kovach chaired the dinner portion.
Parents of NHS alumni, under the direction of Mrs. Patricia Anderson, decorated the hall with maroon and white tablecloths and matching NHS white and gold place mats, dinner napkins and individual dinner place cards for each member and their invited guests. Each table was festooned with beautiful arrangements.
Student volunteers from the classes of 2016 and 2017 helped to serve dinner. The director of the Caribou High School cafeteria, Mrs. Jo Emmert, supervised the meal preparation.
The Pin and Oath Induction Ceremony followed the dinner, presided over by Caribou NHS Chapter President Miss Samantha Camy. Mr. Mark A. Jones, principal of Caribou High School, administered the oath to the 16 new inductees. NHS member Miss Elyse Kiehn, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Kim Kiehn, performed the song “Keep Breathing” by Ingrid Michaelson.
Each new inductee was given a presentation bouquet of flowers in the colors of the National Honor Society to award to special guest in the audience. Miss Clara Collins chaired the Induction Ceremony portion of the evening.
