To the editor:
It is a pleasure to offer my congratulations to Commandant Craig Fay and the organizers of the recently established Meo Bosse Detachment 1414 of the Marine Corps League. I commend them for their commitment to all who wear the eagle, globe, and anchor of the United States Marine Corps.
For 90 years, the Marine Corps League has upheld the traditions passed on since the founding of our nation. More than 76,000 strong, the Marine Corps League members throughout America provide aid and assistance to current Marines, retired Marines, Navy Fleet Marine Force Corpsmen, and their families. This organization promotes the American values of freedom and democracy, and is an effective voice for a strong national defense.
The namesake of Detachment 1414 exemplified the ideals you join together to advance. Meo Bosse served our nation with distinction as a Marine. In the years that followed, he continued to serve as a determined advocate for veterans’ health care and services in northern Maine. Like him, the members of this new detachment embrace “Semper Fidelis” not merely as a motto but as a commitment to the United States of America and to the United States Marine Corps.
