CARIBOU — There’s something to do every weekend this January, starting on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center.
Events kick off this Saturday with a Family Fun Night, from 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 11. There will be a $5 admission per family for the event, but the gym will be filled with some fun, new inflatables.

“The city has recently acquired some new inflatables from downstate, and we’re going to be setting those up inside the wellness center,” said Recreation Program Director Neal Sleeper.
This isn’t the first time the rec has sponsored a fun way for families to have some indoor fun during the colder months, but this is the first time featuring a record number of inflatables — 13 in total (some of which were purchased with help from the Cary Medical Center).
The event is open to anyone in the area — but children must be accompanied by an adult.
Something new this year just for adults is a dodgeball tournament.
Starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the rec center, registered adult teams will play a round-robin style tournament with cash prizes for first- and second-place teams offered should more than 10 teams participate. It costs $80 to register for the fund-raising tournament, and teams need to register by Wednesday, Jan. 15. Teams can register by emailing matt@cariboumaine.org or calling 493-4224.
Rounding off a month of weekend fun will be the Family Bingo and Outdoor Activities event on Sunday, Jan. 26 from 1-3 p.m. at the Caribou Country Club.
“It’s going to be an afternoon event where folks can come in and pick up skies along the way, at no charge through the caribou rec department, for some family skiing or snowshoeing — and come back up to the club house to enjoy some hot chowder and some games together,” Sleeper said. “We want to try to make a real family day that gets people out doors.”
