Challenge Series kicks off with Houlton road race
The Aroostook Musterds Running Club announces the first of its seven County Challenge Racing Series races, the 30th annual Wild Katahdin Trust Snow Run, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15 beginning at the Millar Arena in Houlton.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The 5K walkers’ race begins at 10:45 a.m. and the 5K run begins at 11 a.m. The fee is $12 and the first 50 registrants will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt. Awards will be given to the first male and female in the following age groups: under 14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and over 60. The first male and female walkers to cross the finish line will also receive awards.
Refreshments and the traditional chicken stew will be available after the event, while a few door prizes will also be drawn.

Winter Fun Day slated for Saturday
The Limestone Recreation Department and the Maine School of Science and Mathematics have teamed up to offer the fifth annual Winter Fun Day, taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Limestone Community School.
A number of free activities will take place, provided by the Limestone Recreation Department and MSSM as well as local groups and organizations. The free activities for the day include: dog sled rides, sliding/tubing, cross country skiing, outdoor laser tag and snowmobile rides. Activities such as arts and crafts will take place indoors to keep participants warm.
A clam bake will also take place during the day and will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis. A small fee is associated with the clam bake. This event is open to the public and individuals from all communities are invited and encouraged to spend the day in Limestone.

26th annual C-Me-Ski scheduled Feb. 15
The 26th annual C-Me-Ski, sponsored by the Limestone Cross Country Ski Club and Friends of the National Wildlife Refuge, will be held Saturday, Feb. 15 at the National Wildlife Refuge in Limestone.
Registration begins at noon, with the youth race taking place at 1 p.m. and the adult race at 1:30 p.m. The cost is free for youths and $10 for adults. The course is between 1/2 to two kilometers in length for youth up to age 13, seven kilometers for ages 13-18 and 21 kilometers for adults.
An awards ceremony will get under way at approximately 3 p.m. For more information, call 999-2451.
