    Eddie LaVoie, 94, of Bristol, CT, formerly of Caribou, ME, husband of the late Patricia (Soucy) LaVoie, died Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Village Green of Bristol. Eddie was born October 21, 1919, in Lille, ME. He was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Chabre) LaVoie.
    He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, having served in New Guinea, Philippines and Japan. Eddie was wounded twice while in combat and was a Purple Heart recipient. Prior to his retirement, he employed as a furnace operator at Wallace Barnes Company of Bristol.
    Eddie was a humble man. He enjoyed the simple things in life: a hot cup of black coffee, word search puzzles, gardening, woodworking, cooking, cherished visits with friends and family and making acquaintances with any dog he met. Eddie will be most remembered for his contagious smile, his warm and friendly greeting to everyone he met, his expression of positive emotions and uplifting soul that he passed to everyone, all through his smile.
    Surviving is his daughter, Marie Green and her husband, John, of Bristol; his beloved grandchildren, Kimberly Ploszaj of Bristol and Justin Ploszaj of Terryville; step-grandson, Billy Green; his brother, Wilfred LaVoie of Bristol; and his sister, Jean Sutherland of Caribou; his sister-in-law, Vella Pinella and brother-in-law, Bert Soucy; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters, Blanche, Doris, Lena, Louise and Germaine, and his brothers, Norman and Louis.
    A memorial mass celebrating Eddie’s life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 170 Main Street, Terryville, CT. Burial with military honors will be held in Caribou in May.
