The Harlem Superstars will be making the trip up to Caribou this weekend to take on the Caribou Dream team, on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Caribou High School.
The Superstars are a group of talented basketball players, who have put together a comedy basketball team similar to that of the Harlem Globetrotters, but with a self-proclaimed “fresh philosophy” that is more up-to-date with today’s society. The Superstars travel from coast to coast, visiting schools to fundraisers, autograph signings and many other types of community events, where they are able to raise money for a wide variety of causes.
The team claims their main goal, according to their website, is “to attend fundraisers and to raise money. The teams that we play against consist of policemen, firemen, teachers, students, celebrities and many more. We also play at corporate affairs, colleges and church functions.”
The team does more than just show off their skills on the basketball court. The team takes pride in the fact that they do school visitations, where they mix motivational speaking with some fun, which is a major part of our world famous show. If you choose to book the Harlem Superstars be assured the school visitations will be part of the package, at no extra cost.
The Superstars will be facing off against a group of Caribou seniors, who have taken to calling themselves the Caribou Dream Team – a name they hope to live up to on Saturday, as they take the court with a steep task ahead of them.
Tickets for the game are currently being sold at S.W. Collins in Presque Isle and Caribou, as well as Parents Country store in Caswell and also at the door. Tickets will be $8 at the door and $7 if bought in advance.
“You put the team together and we will play against you to raise money for your good cause. We offer a great family show.”
