My Life Story
as a Snowflake
By Olivia Leichliter,

Hi, my name is Flake. Now I know what your probably thinking. With a name like Flake, I should be in a cornflake box. But, I’m not. I’m a snowflake in a cloud and I’m getting ready to fall. Hey! I have a great idea! Why don’t I tell you about my trip down to Earth?

It all started one day. I was minding my own business and all of a sudden, the big winds came and they were the kind of winds that…oh I don’t know if I should even tell you…but just so you know, when it happens to you. OK, where was I? The winds were so mean. They were so mean that they pushed me off. It was a calm trip down but I was still scared because the winds could rock down my brothers and sisters. But I just kept going. On my way, I saw other snowflakes. They were so happy. I thought I was going to land in a field… but then I went the other direction. I floated by a barn but I did not land. I just kept floating around the barn. Finally, I landed on the roof. I saw a big thing coming toward me. I thought it was a cow but it wasn’t. I did not know what it was until… it came a little closer. My mom and dad had told me about these kinds of animals. Ummmm… what was the name of it? Oh, yeah! It was a giant MOOSE! But a gust of wind came and blew me off the roof and onto the ground. AAAH is what I said! It almost ate me. Oh I was so mad so I hit it. The nerve of it! It kicked me. I almost lost part of my flake but I’m ok. Well that’s the end of my story. Now it’s time for yours.

Hi! My name is Hunter. I was born in a cloud. When I was older, I floated out of the cloud. It is all white on the bottom. Oh no! I am floating into a driveway. I am going to crash into different people! Boom! Whooph! I’m glad I didn’t split in half. Oh no! What is that? It is pushing us. It is a plow truck. We are getting pushed into a big pile. The kids started jumping on me. I almost got split in half. The kids made me into a tunnel and I got jumped on again! I went floating up into the air and I floated very high. I came back down and something was coming towards me. I got smashed by a snowball. Then, I landed on the ground and someone slid on me! The ice was slippery. Someone slid and they were going very fast and I flew very, very high and I floated way back into my cloud. I was safe.

Once upon a time, there was a snowflake. Oh, that’s me! I’m in a cloud right now and it is beautiful. It is fluffy like a marshmallow. The cloud is running away from me. Ahhhhh! I’m falling! Hey, this is kinda fun. I see a field and a big red thing. I wonder what it is. I’m heading for it. I landed on the other snowflakes. Here comes something black and white. It’s big. It has four feet and it says, “Moo!” Why did I have to be on top? It’s getting closer. Help me! Awww! You kicked me! Hey, I’m back in a cloud. This one is not my house. I better hide. Not again! The cloud is running away again! I’m falling now. I see something. It looks like my Uncle Bob. It is shaped like my uncle’s head. It is red. It has two feet and it goes, “Cluck! Cluck! Cluck!” It’s coming closer. Ahhhh! You kicked me too. I’ll get you back! Hi Uncle Bob. Oh, that’s not Uncle Bob. I better run! I’m falling. I landed. Oh no! Here comes something tall with a pail. The pail is filled with water and the tall thing is wearing a straw hat. He’s coming over here! Owwww! You burnt me. This is hot water! Help! Help! Help!

Oh! Hello there! I’m a snowflake. Life as a snowflake really isn’t much so let me tell you why. Well, I started out as a water droplet but right when I was born, I started gently falling. It was kind of scary and, of course, I didn’t know any of the other snowflakes. I landed in a wizard’s castle and he turned me into a person. So, that’s my story.

I’m in a cloud and suddenly I shook. Then, I was spinning out of the cloud and I landed in the middle of a field. There was a barn next to the field. There was a black and white thing coming out of the barn. I tried to move but I couldn’t and that thing kicked me and I went up again and fell back down onto a mitten. A little girl was bringing me inside! I was thinking, “Oh no! It’s warm in there!”
“What is that white thing?” I said as she opened the door. Look at all the food! I think she called it a refrigerator. She put me in there. It’s cold! And that’s how I lived happily ever after.

I’m a snowflake but most of you know that. My family and I are in a cloud and all of a sudden, it breaks apart and we go down. I break apart. I’m going down slow and fast. I’m in New York. I see buildings and cars and I see kids playing but I finally land. Somebody picks me up and puts me in a ball with other snowflakes. “Hey! I’m Jo-jo! What are you doing in here?” I said to the other snowflakes.
“We got put in here.”
“Have you guys seen my family?” I asked.
“Yes, well…you go north from here and go to Connor. They’re out there.”
“Oh, thank you!” I said.
I go there and I find my family. “I missed you guys so much!” I said.
“What do you mean? We were here all the time.” My family answered.

I am a snowflake. Wait! It’s not just me. We are eight snowflakes and we landed on a farm and there was hay on the top of the barn. I landed on it. So did my friends. It was fun. The hay was so hot that I got burnt in the hay and I started to melt. More snow came and made me fluffier and I lasted all year long.

I am going to fall on a housetop, grass and trees. I will fall lightly on houses and hard on grass and spinning on trees. I will land in Caribou. Later, I will melt. I was happy when I was falling. I’ll be sad when I melt.

I am a snowflake. My name is Hippopotamus but my friends call me Hippo. Aaah! I’m falling! Maybe it’s not bad for me. I see a person. Maybe this is what they call a window? Wooosh! I am breaking! It’s a windshield! The windshield wiper threw me off onto the ground. My edges have fallen off. Snow! I am getting more snow on me. Someone is making a snowman with me and my friends. Me and my friends lasted a long time.

Hi! I am Snowy. I come from a piece of a cloud. I am part of a snow blizzard and a big family in the cloud. A big snowstorm hit the cloud and it opened. I was twirling and whirling. “Hey! Don’t push!” I saw my family twirling and whirling right past me and right in the road. “Mom! Dad!” I shouted. They flew back in the air and landed on me and we flew across the lake and right into a window. I see a big furry thing coming toward us. It has four legs and it has a big nose. It tried to bite me. I almost melted but when it tried to bite me, his nose hit me and I went into a really cold place. There was a really squishy thing in front of me. I tried to lay on it but I sunk into it. It was gooey inside.

I am falling out of a cloud with my family and friends. Oh no! We are falling! What are we going to do? We are in a blizzard. Zoom! Zoom! We are going fast. Zoom! Zoom! We are going down! “Help!” said Dad. We are ok. We are on somebody’s glove. Oh no! We are going inside. We are melting!

Hi! I’m a water drop. I’m evaporating. Thought I would tell you the story about me when I was a snowflake. Well, here it is! I was in a cloud. I was rolling in a snowball with my brothers and sisters. The floor opened up. I was floating gently. I was falling. I fell on a branch. My branch got cut!!! Someone put me and my branch in a truck. I’m on ice. I lived forever.
