CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department hosted its second annual high school indoor soccer tournament Saturday, March 29, with six girls’ teams and six boys’ teams competing for titles.

On the girls’ side, Caribou I dominated pool play and went in to the playoff round as the No. 1 seed, but was defeated by Fort Kent in the semifinals. Ashland, the No. 2 team, bested Caribou II in the semis and then topped Fort Kent in the championship.

In the boys’ competition, Fort Fairfield came out on top in pool play, followed by Caribou, Presque Isle and Mars Hill, in order.

However, in the playoff rounds, Houlton came from the fifth seed to knock off Mars Hill in the quarters and Fort Fairfield in the semis.

Meanwhile, Caribou stopped PI in its semifinal before being upset by Houlton in the title match as the Shires were able to defend their championship from last year.
