LL registration meeting tonight
    A meeting for parents of all children interested in playing in this year’s Caribou Little League season, including new and returning players, will be held tonight in the Caribou Middle School cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m. Players must be between the ages of 9 and 12 on April 30 to be eligible for the 2014 season. For players new to the league, parents should bring a birth certificate for age verification. 

    All new players must try out to be selected for a team for the 2014 season. The primary tryout for new players will be held on Saturday, April 5 in the Caribou Recreation Center starting at 9 a.m. 

    A make-up tryout will be held on Wednesday, April 9 for new players who cannot attend the primary tryout. The make-up tryout will be in the CMS gymnasium beginning at 6 p.m., and will be the final opportunity for a new player to try out for the 2014 season.

Track officials’ clinic Sunday in Orono
    The Maine Association of USA Track and Field will conduct an official’s clinic on Sunday, April 6, 2014 in the Orono council chambers, located at the Town Office on 59 Main Street. Registration is at 12:15pm and the clinic will go from 1 to 4:30 pm.

    The clinic is for anyone interested in officiating track and field at the youth, high school or college level and to become certified or re-certified. More track and field officials are needed in northern and eastern Maine.

    Track coaches and track parents who want to learn more about the rules are encouraged to attend the clinic.

      There is no cost for the clinic. Track rule books will be available for purchase. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

Baseball trip planned this summer
    The 14th annual Fantasy Baseball Trip is slated for July 29-Aug. 2, departing from the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville.

    Organized by Vaughn Clark, who has 13 years experience running these trips, the schedule includes two Phillies-Mets games at Citi Field in New York City, a tour of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. and two Yankees-Red Sox games at Fenway Park in Boston.

Softball meetings scheduled April 10
    The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will have its men’s and co-ed softball meetings on Thursday, April 10 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. The men’s meeting will be at 6 p.m. and the co-ed meeting at 7 p.m.

    Any team wishing to participate in a league this season must have a representative at the meeting. League rules, dues and starting dates will be discussed as well as all the paperwork that needs to be filled out for the league. Anyone interested in playing on a team should call the recreation center and have their name put on a list to be given out to the team captains at the meeting.
