STOCKHOLM – Katherine G. Mattson, 93, died March 20, 2014, at a Caribou health care facility. She was born on Sept. 24, 1920, in New Sweden, the daughter of Henning V. and Adeline (Hedman) Mattson.
She attended the Jemtland and Stockholm schools, and graduated from beauty school in Augusta. She worked as a beautician for a number of years. Katherine was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stockholm, the Stockholm Museum and The Home Extension Group.
She is survived by two brothers and their wives, Walter Mattson and his wife, Sylvia of Stockholm, and Charles and Claire Mattson of Hallowell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Phyllis Alessi and Margaret Nelson; three brothers, John, Jack, and Stanley.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. Friends called noon until time of service at the funeral home. Donations may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 6, Stockholm, ME 04783. Spring interment will be at West Jemtland Cemetery, New Sweden.
