UMFK dinner features Boston pianist

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Foundation will present its annual dinner/performance fundraising event on Saturday, April 12 beginning at 5 p.m. This year’s musical entertainment will be provided by jazz, blues, and improvisational pianist, David Maxwell, of Boston.

The annual dinner/performance is the Foundation’s primary fund-raising event of the year. Last year the event raised more than $16,000 to support endowed scholarships and campus investments.
The annual event includes a social hour at 5 p.m. and a five-course gourmet dinner beginning at 6 p.m., both in Nowland Hall. The dinner will be catered and donated by Aramark food services.
Following dinner, the evening’s activities will move to Fox Auditorium where at 8:30 p.m. Maxwell will provide his musical entertainment. He plays many styles of blues, jazz and improvised music, but is best known for his soulful virtuosity and unmatched ability to reach the heart of post-war Chicago-style blues.
At 9:30 p.m. the evening will end on a sweet note with a post-performance dessert and champagne reception held in the Nadeau Hall Teleconference Room.
Individual tickets and sponsorship opportunities for the dinner/performance fund-raising event are available through the UMFK Development Office by calling 834-7800. Individual tickets for the performance only also are available.
