Caribou baseball team wins 3

    The Caribou Middle School baseball team opened with three convincing victories.
Solid pitching and great defense kept Fort Fairfield on the ropes as seven Caribou pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts in a 20-3 win. On offense, the young Vikes were led by Noah Frost, who had a double and two singles, while Matt Nadeau homered and doubled and Camden Huck added a pair of singles. Josh Quist, Brandon Manter, Hayden Hunter, Spencer McDuffie and Evan Desmond also had hits for Caribou.
Caribou‘s pitching once again was solid against Wisdom, with seven hurlers combining for 18 strikeouts in the 18-0 triumph. The pitchers threw 59 out of 73 pitches for strikes and allowed no walks.
The Vikings had a solid hitting performance, led by Bailey Griffeth’s three hits. Frost, Noah Hixon, Quist and Alex Ezzy each had two hits, while McDuffie, Nadeau and Rosado notched one apiece.
The squad continued its undefeated season by downing Madawaska. Caribou again utilized its mound depth as six pitchers combined to allow two hits while fanning 16. The Vikings were paced offensively by Hixon, who went 5 for 6 with 5 RBI. Caribou also received three hits apiece from by Manter, Ezzy, Desmond and Austin Findlen.

Boosters holding test drive
fundraiser this Saturday

    A “Drive For Your School” fundraiser is being planned at Caribou High School during a busy Saturday of sports action on the campus.
The promotion is being offered at the parking lot from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and is made possible through Griffeth Ford of Caribou. For everyone 18 years of age and older who test drives a Ford vehicle, $20 will be donated toward the CHS Athletic Boosters Club.
The Caribou track and field team is hosting a meet that morning at 11 a.m., while the Viking tennis teams host Mount Desert Island for a 1 p.m. match and the baseball and softball teams will entertain John Bapst of Bangor for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

Three-Week Triathlete

    The “Three-Week Triathlete” is a new program offered by the Presque Isle Recreation Department.  Registration fee will be $25 for residents and $30 for non-residents and the dates to sign up are May 12-23.
Practice sessions will begin June 2.  This program is for children ages 7-12 and there will be two practice sessions for the swim, bike and run. The final swim, bike and run will be held on different days and each portion will be timed and awards will be given.

Soccer camps in Limestone

    A pair of soccer camps are scheduled for this summer in Limestone through the town’s recreation department.
The Tetra Brazil Soccer Camp will be held June 7-11 at Limestone Community School and is for ages 7-16.
The British Soccer Camp will take place Aug. 4-8, also at LCS. This camp is for ages 3-14.

Baseball trip

    The 14th annual Fantasy Baseball Trip is slated for July 29-Aug. 2, departing from the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville.
Organized by Vaughn Clark, who has 13 years experience running these trips, the schedule includes two Phillies-Mets games at Citi Field in New York City, a tour of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. and two Yankees-Red Sox games at Fenway Park in Boston.
The cost is $860, which includes a $160 deposit. A monthly payment plan is available.
