Tryouts for 13-15 baseball Saturday
Tryouts for the 13-15 baseball team for youth in the Woodland-New Sweden area will be held Saturday, June 7 at noon at the field behind Northstar Variety in New Sweden.
All players from Woodland, New Sweden, Stockholm and Westmanland are encouraged to try out. For more information, call 551-9790.

Memorial Day golf scramble results
The 17th annual Fort Fairfield Athletic Boosters Memorial Day golf scramble was held May 24 at Aroostook Valley Country Club.
This year’s tourney was held in memory of Dallas McCrea and Raymond McCrea. A field of 148 golfers participated in the event, with the men’s team of Tom Towle, Himie Towle, Steve Towle and Paul Towle and the mixed team of Skip Chappelle, Kara Grant, Libby Cummings and Larry Gardner tying for low score with 11-under-par 61s.
The Towles took first place in the men’s division, while the father-daughter team of Chappelle, Grant, Cummings and Gardner won in the mixed division. First net for men went to Camille St. Pierre, Andrew Plant, Tim Watt and Todd Alley, while the ladies’ division winners were Lynn Dooling, Betty Weston, Lucy Sappier and Helen Dixon.
Longest drive winners were Robbie Watson for men and Sappier for women.

Fishing derby for kids
The 11th annual Children’s Fishing Derby at the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge will be held Saturday, June 14 at the ANWR, located at the 97 Refuge Road in Limestone.
The derby is free, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. and the derby getting under way at 9 a.m. Awards will be presented at 12:30 p.m. Call 325-4634 for more information.

Cornerstone golf tourney
The eighth annual Cornerstone Classic Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, June 7 at Presque Isle Country Club. The four-person scramble begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Registration gets under way at 7:30 a.m. The entry fee is $160 for a pre-arranged four-person team or $40 per person. A women’s division has been added this year.
Cash prizes will go to the top three teams for both gross and net. There will be prizes offered for holes-in-one, including $15,000 cash, as well as prizes for the longest drive and closest to pin. A putting contest will be held, with a chance to win $5,000.

Soccer camps in Limestone
A pair of soccer camps are scheduled for this summer in Limestone through the town’s recreation department.
The Tetra Brazil Soccer Camp will be held June 7-11 at Limestone Community School and is for ages 7-16.
The British Soccer Camp will take place Aug. 4-8, also at LCS. This camp is for ages 3-14.
Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt, a soccer ball and poster, an individual skills performance evaluation and free access to an educational soccer website.

Volleyball camp offered at university
The University of Maine at Presque Isle has scheduled a volleyball camp June 23-27.
The camp will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, with a cost of $60 per person or $50 per person for a team of six or more players. Everybody signing up will receive a camp T-shirt.
The camp is offered to those in grades 6-12 of any skill level and will cover all aspects of volleyball play. Proceeds will go towards the UMPI volleyball program. Contact Mark Kornachuk, Owl volleyball coach and camp director, at 999-9836 for more information.
