Scott, Elaine B., 87, May 29, 2014. Interment was held in the Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.
CARIBOU & BANGOR – Elaine Barbara Scott, 87, the wife of the late Sheldon S. Scott, passed away quietly Wednesday morning, May 28, 2014 at a Bangor hospital, following a brief illness. She was born in Limestone, June 25, 1926, the only child of Howard and Ruth (Harmon) Andrews.
Elaine grew up in Limestone, attending local schools and sharing wonderful childhood days on the family farm, surrounded by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. She often stated that she learned her wonderful knack of cooking from her grandmother and to appreciate music in any form whether singing, dancing or playing the piano (or the banjo) from her mother.
Elaine and Scotty were married on June 23, 1946. Together they raised their family in Caribou, were successful in the Caribou business community and shared their love of life with family members and many individuals, most whom became life-long friends.
‘Aine’ or ‘Nana’ was never more content than when she was rocking her grandchildren when they were infants or singing songs to them and making up funny bedtime stories when they grew older. Her children were a source of great pride to her as were her four grandchildren. She was always interested in their lives and was quick to share stories about them with her friends. Elaine and Scotty spent many years enjoying their cottage on Grand Manan Island, a place that beckoned everyone to stop by and enjoy her home-made bread and muffins along with a game of cribbage and a cup of her delicious fish chowder. Elaine was an avid bridge player and enjoyed more than 40 years of friendship with the “girls” of her bridge club. She graciously welcomed friends, family and strangers into their home, providing amazing meals and easy conversation filled with laughter and genuine friendship.
Elaine’s family and friends are left with an enormous void in their lives with her passing, but the wonderful memories and honest love and caring that she provided to each one will be carried in their hearts forever.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband in 2008; her parents and young son, Ralph T. Scott II, who died in 1954. She is survived by her son, Stephen Scott and wife, Barbara; daughter, Shelley and her husband, Dr. Steve Nadeau; one grandson, Michael Scott and his wife, Melissa and three granddaughters, Michelle Nadeau, Meghnn Scott and Katherine Scott. Also, a very special friend, Ed Lovejoy
