Tourney raises funds for Toys for Tots program
The Northern Aroostook County Marine Corps Reserve will hold a golf tournament to benefit its Toys For Tots program Saturday at Limestone Country Club.
The registration fee is $120 for a four-person team, that includes a mulligan and putting string. Sign-up is held from 7-8 a.m. A $8,000 cash prize will be offered for the first hole-in-one. The rain date is Sunday.

Fishing derby results
Sportsmen, Inc. held its 40th annual fishing derby and canoe raffle June 21 and 22 at Cross Lake Landing.
The derby covered the Fish River chain of lakes. The largest salmon was caught at Long Lake by Dick Laliberte of Leeds and weighed 3 lbs., 9-1/2 oz. Carl Sjoberg of Caribou landed the second largest salmon. It was also caught at Long Lake and weighed 2 lbs., 9-1/2 oz.
Tim Sites of Caribou had the largest trout, which weighed 2 lbs., 13 oz. and was caught at Long Lake. The second largest trout was caught on Square Lake and belonged to Keith Bray of Woodland. It weighed 2 lbs., 9 oz.
The canoe was won by Wayne Belanger of Caribou.
C-A-N-C-E-R Golf Tournament is Saturday
PRESQUE ISLE — The annual C-A-N-C-E-R Golf Tournament is planned for this Saturday, June 28 at Presque Isle Country Club, with the event serving as an important fundraiser for the Caring Area Neighbors for Cancer Education and Recovery (C-A-N-C-E-R), whose mission is to support area residents who are fighting the disease.
The organization assists with hotel, gas, plane fare, bus fare and auto repair expenditures, as well as helping with medical costs through co-pays and with medicine costs. The group also delivers homemade bread and other sweets on a monthly basis to cancer patients going through treatment. All money raised from Saturday’s tournament stays in Aroostook County.
The tourney will have divisions for both men and women, with cash prizes going to the top teams. Closest to pin and longest driving competitions will be offered, as well as the annual Memorial Putting Contest. The grand prize for the first hole-in-one on hole No. 8 will be $10,000 cash.
The registration fee for a four-person team is $200. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the tourney gets underway at 9 a.m.
